Alabama - The death toll continues to grow due to tornadoes and storms that hit several states in southern U.S.. In Alabama alone, the death toll rose to 61 people. So far, more than 80 people were killed because of this extreme weather.
According to U.S. authorities as reported by ABC News on Thursday (28/04/2011), at least 82 people were killed by series of deadly tornadoes in several states.
President Barack Obama has ordered the federal government to move quickly in order to provide rescue assistance in Alabama.
"I have ordered the federal government to move faster in our response and tell the governor of Alabama that I approve his request for federal emergency assistance, including search and rescue assets," Obama said in a statement.
Top of this natural disaster, emergency imposed in Alabama, Arkansas, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri, Tennessee and Oklahoma. The state governor has asked the National Guard to aid rescue and cleanup operations.
The death toll is expected to continue to grow given the extreme weather will continue to happen until Friday, April 29 local time.
